cartagena (1) Cartagena de Indias, is one of, if not Colombia's most visited and beloved tourist destinations. Offering great history, beaches, nightlife, restaurants and more, this vivacious seaside city is a perfect travel destination for backpackers, couples and families alike.

Cartagena has a number of great places and activities to see and do. If you find yourself with only a couple days in the city, makes sure you see these interesting and fun places:

 1. Centro Amurallado: This old walled area is the heart of Cartagena, and once protected the city from pirates and storms. Still within the walls one can find stunning colonial architecture, churches, convents and great plazas. The most popular plazas and accommodations are in El Centro. For those on a smaller budget the are of Getsemani is less expensive and definitely worth a daytime walk.
2. Playa Blanca: By far Cartagena's most beautiful beach, Playa Blanca lives up to its name sake. The beach features gorgeous white sands and crystal clear Caribbean waters. There are a number of great places to rent hammocks, and grab a drink and some food.
3. Las Bovedas: A fun and peculiar shopping area, Las Bovedas once functioned as jail cells in the old fortress. Today, the rooms provide visitors with great gift and souvenir shops, as well great art gallery.
4. Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas: This is the giant fortress that towers over the city of Cartagena. The actual fortress, started in 1639 took over 150 years to complete. Today, tourists can stroll through the battlements and underground passages.
5. Rosario Islands: Sitting just an hour away from Cartagena by boat, this small archipelago sits in the southern part of the Bay of Cartagena. It offers stunning crystal clear waters, and spectacular recreational diving.

    Thanks so much for the suggestions. I rlaely appreciate it. I will look into that now. We are flying in from London Gatwik. Do you think those people will be at the airport too trying to get us to go to their hotels? I am worried that I will get there and there will be no where for us to stay. we want a quad room and its hard to find one.

    Hola doctor soy una sef1ora de 55 af1os de edad…Desde el af1o 2005 padeczo de hipertiroidismo y me recetaron Tapazol (5mg), comence9 tomando 8 pastillas diarias…En el 2006 me detectaron diabetes tome9 dos meses meformina (850) y despue9s de otros ane1lisis me quitaron la meformina porque me dijeron que era una descompensacif3n de yodo y que la diabetes habeda desaparecido (cosa que no entiendo) .desde el af1o 2005 hasta el 2010 solamente estoy tomando Tapazol (3 pastillas diarias)y me volvieron hacer ane1lisis de glucosa y el doctor me dice que tengo otra vez diabetesvolviendo a recetarme meformina(850) porque dice que de nuevo me este1n funcionando mal las hormonas.Estos son los resultados de mi examen me9dico= THS: 0.865 , T4 libre: 0.802Doctor ahora semanalmente me hago ane1lisis de glucosa el hace dos semanas me salio 108, el de la semana pasada me salio 110 y el actual 102y ahora el doctor me dice que de hipertiroidismo estoy pasando a hipotiroidismo y me ha recetado Tapazol (3 diarias de 5 m) y la cuarta parte de levotiroxina..Doctor ayfademe no entiendo nada de e9stas cosas ..bfmi diabetes este1 producida por mi tiroides o en que influye ? bf si controlo mi tiroides se va la diabetes? Espero su respuestaMuchas gracias por este espacio..
