Traveling in Colombia on 15/10/09

Colombia has not always had the best image as a tourist destination, but recently this has been changing and more travelers and backpackers are headed to this amazing country to see what they have been missing.  Colombia is becoming safer day by day, and is a destination that should not be missed by anyone who is traveling through Central or South America.

sanandresplayaA country rich in cultural and geographical diversity, Colombia has so much to explore and experience!  Traveling in Colombia you can come across ruins from ancient civilizations, Andean mountain ranges, colonial towns, dense rainforests and much more!  From the coastal waters of the Caribbean and Pacific Oceans to the lush Amazon forests, Colombia truly is a highlight of any South America journey.

amazonas Colombia has had a tumultuous history, full of civil wars and guerilla activism that have kept the country nearly unapproachable by tourists for many years.  However, now it is safer than ever to visit and enjoy the spirit, culture and natural beauty that Colombia has to offer.  Also, many travelers have claimed the locals to be some of the friendliest people in the world.  With a bit of adventurous spirit, a trip to Colombia is sure to exceed your expectations and give you a whole new outlook on this spectacular country.

It's amazing how wanmirg the kindness of a stranger is.I read the comments left at the link, and was rather shocked by some of them. It's a lovely story about the kindness and generosity of a stranger, and yet there are a few who can find a negative in anything. I would much prefer to hear of kids out getting exercise and exploring, rather than hearing about kids who know know all the words to a particular movie or song and we've all made mistakes or been careless occassionally, and this was a great example of how on one of those such occassions, the kindness of a stranger changed the situation.[]

Hi! i lived in prague but for hosetls, i also suggest traveller's hostel. it's along dlouha st and leads right into the old town square. you need around 3 days in prague to see the city. i agree with the comments above. for good views of the city, you can go up the radio tower, petrin hill (same designer as the eiffel) or one of the yards of the prague castle near nerudova st. a memorable thing would be to have your portrait done at the charles bridge. just be on the look out for a beer logo outside a resto or pub and there will be czech food. if you're up for beer, try going to U fleku, it's a historic brewery in the city center. I honestly don't know what to suggest as it all depends on your interests. If you're taking excursions, the best place for scheduled departures is at Namesti Republiky. lots of tourist services there. but you can do it on your own and leave from the main train station, masarykovo nadrazi or the florence bus station. must visits out of prague would be karlovy vary, cesky krumlov, kutna hora and maybe terezin (2nd largest concentration camp in europe). Pass by ceske budejovice if ur going to cesky krumlov. it's the home of the original budweiser and you can also take a tour of Pilsner Urquell brewery in Pilsen. Home of the beer type. There's lots to do. club, watch concerts and operas, eat, etc. i think you have so much time to discover the czech republic. :-)

i don't really uartdsennd what you are asking, but this past christmas i tried to find the heat in europe (i was living in the netherlands the rest of the year). anyway, i travelled all through spain, portugal and a bit of morocco. the only place that was actually warm enough to swim or wear sandals was morocco. getting there takes a lot of time though (account for a full day to enter morocco and to leave, even from algeciras (spain) because even though the ferry is short, they're delayed and passports and customs stuff takes FOREVER) and see if it's still worth going that far. AMAZING place to visit though. definitely my favourite of my whole year. and VERY affordable.wait, i re-read and actually you are looking for places in between paris and barcelona that are hot but aren't the south of france??ummmyeah

I'm not sure about the Old Prague Hostel, but when I was there last December I stayed at Hotel Casa Marcello and it was fnstaatic. It is literally right blocks away from the Old Town Square, very charming, and AFFORDABLE. So, if you want to keep exploring your options on hotels/hostels, give them a look! The must see things, in my opinion, are: Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle (go at 12 noon to see the bigger changing of the guards ceremony, there is one every hour but they aren't as fun to watch), and overall just explore the city little by little. You are there for a pretty good chunk of time so I think you will be able to see everything, twice maybe. Prague isn't very big (at least the touristy area) and you can see it in a day. So I suggest take your time and see eevrything at your own pace.
