One of these historical tourist's spots is the El Corralito de Piedra. This is considered to be one of the most inspired historical features of Cartagena.  This historical place was covered with walls that were used during the siege of 1556 to 1608 permanent attacks. Today, El Corralito de Piedra remains intact. There are lots of infrastructures built nearby such as restaurants, clubs, banks, stations and Hostels Cartagena. Another historical place in Cartagena is the Pie de la Popa. This place is considered to be one of the first neighborhoods and settlements in all of Cartagena. As in mainland Europe and other tieterorirs around the world, UK hotels are now assessed by star ratings, replacing the previously muddled system of separate classification schemes run by the AA, RAC and English Tourist Council. While each of the above bodies continue to carry out invaluable independent assessments of UK hotels, harmonisation of the ratings system means that consumers can now accurately gauge the likely standard of an establishment in advance, or, where standards are believed to fall short of the rating awarded, give credible reason for complaint or make representations to holiday companies, the assessing body (or indeed enforcement bodies such as trading standards).Ratings given are based on unannounced mystery guest' visits where an initial assessment of the premises is made (usually a stay overnight) before the inspector declares his/her identity and then completes a formal tour of the premises. Annual checks are also made to ensure that standards are maintained.Below you'll find a brief description of the standards normally expected for hotels under each star rating, along with separate diamond ratings' for other forms of guest accommodation such as bed breakfast lodgings. One Star HotelsUsually small, independently owned establishments, with a family atmosphere. Service is more informal, while hotel facilities may be limited. For example, not all guestrooms will have en-suite bath/shower rooms, and lunch or evening meals may not be served. Accommodation should however, always be clean, comfortable and maintained to an acceptable standard. Two Star HotelsTypically small to medium sized hotels, two star properties offer a greater number of facilities than one star (entry level) lodging. Guestrooms should be clean, comfortable and well-equipped, usually with en-suite bath/shower room. Staff may take a more professional approach to customer care, also offering a wider range of basic services, including food and drink.Three Star HotelsLarger, or more well-equipped hotels with higher quality guestrooms and a wider range of on/off site facilities. Reception and lobby areas are likely to be more spacious, while eating/drink areas will often also cater for non-guests. All bedrooms will have fully en-suite bath or shower rooms, also offering other items such as a hair dryer, trouser press, direct dial telephone and colour TV. Three star hotels will also usually offer at least limited room service to guests.Four Star HotelsGuests can expect a higher degree of luxury than at three star lodgings, with greater emphasis placed on the quality of guest accommodation throughout the hotel. Furnishings, de9cor and equipment will be of a higher standard than at lower star levels, with coordinated de9cor and well-maintained furniture. En-suite bathrooms will feature both bath and fixed shower, while other amenities such business services, 24-hour room service and dry-cleaning may also be offered. Cuisine will generally be of a high quality, with good service and attention to detail.Five Star HotelsGuests can expect the most spacious and luxurious accommodation, with quality fixtures, fittings and equipment in bedrooms. The hotel should also have elegant and comfortable public areas, with quality furnishings throughout. The restaurant will exhibit a high level of professionalism, with cuisine and service matching the best international standards. Customer service, should cover all aspects of care, with staff being friendly, efficient and courteous.Diamond RatingsOne Diamond Clean, comfortable accommodation with a continental or full English breakfast included. Clean bed linen and tidy room furnishings, with towels, fresh soap and adequate heating and hot water. Acceptable levels of service. Two Diamonds All of the above, plus a higher degree of comfort, quality and customer care.Three Diamonds All of the above, with a good quality of service overall plus well maintained room furnishings, de9cor and guest amenities. A greater number of breakfast choices, with other meals also served during the day. Cuisine is freshly prepared using quality ingredients.Four Diamonds All of the above, with higher levels of quality, comfort and customer care. Special attention is paid to cleanliness and welcoming guests upon arrival.Five Diamonds All of the above plus an excellent standard of quality, comfort and service. Quality bedroom furnishings and well-sized accommodation, with a higher proportion of bedrooms having en-suite/private facilities. Other meals are made with fresh (often local) ingredients to exacting standards. Superb levels of guest care.

monmichka:Well, I can speak for America here. Mexico and Canada are also in North America.Hotels during the hildoay season (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) are almost always solidly booked. And that's the wintertime here so it may not be the best time to travel unless you are looking for snow. Southwest Airlines is the best airline to fly in terms of delays and quick boarding. Go to expedia.com or orbitz.com. They usually have pretty good deals there. How ever you book your flight, make sure you print your boarding pass online. That way, you can board the plane first and choose the seat you want. As far as what to see, it depends on what you want to do. We have beautiful natural wonders in Arizona (Grand Canyon), Yellowstone (Wyoming). We have party cities, Miami, L.A. Vegas, New York. If you want to avoid the snow, the southern states, Texas, Florida, California all have very interesting sites to see, things to do and fascinating people to meet.Hope you have fun while you are here!!!References :

I stayed at a few dneefrfit hostels in London, but no hotels. One was the Generator, whcih people on these communities always seem to recommend. It was quite good cheap, clean, good facilities, very central and close to public transport, but I found it a bit big for my tastes. The others I stayed at were Barmy Badgers in Earls Ct, St Christophers in Borough High St and the YHA in Earls Ct. They were all fine, although none as big/well equipped as the Generator. I liked BB, but it was more a place for people on working holidays etc settling in for a reasonably long stay, lots of people there had jobs and were looking for flats, it was quite homey but maybe not what you're looking for on a short holiday.re theatre tickets, it probably depends how much you're looking at paying online! sometimes things aimed at tourists' will only sell you premium tickets or whatever, which could make it more pricey. I saw Phantom in London and it's really so easy to get tickets for that nowadays, I bought mine about ten minutes before the show and only paid 25 pounds. Tickets for Chicago were always on sale at the cheap ticket places in Leceister square I seem to remember it being about 39 GBP or so. There's a TKTS booth in Leceister Square that sells tickets cheaply if you google it, you should find their website and be able to get an idea of prices. I would say that usually it'd be cheaper to buy them there, but the exchange rate may work against you, so you probably just need to look at both prices and compare.

You should dtienfeily hit up the London theatre scene! Just go the day of the performance to get the tickets. If you're a student you can get a discount. Go to the theatre's box office anyhwere from an hour to just moments before curtain, and ask if they have any student standby. If you're not a student, you could check out the half-price theatre ticket stand in Leicester Square.A good way to see what's playing is to pick up a copy of Time Out:London. In the back is a section devoted to theatre, and it has all the listings of West End, Off-West End and Fringe shows. West End will be the most expensive shows, while Fringe is the least expensive. Off-West End is in the middle of that. The National Theatre is very reputable for having excellent productions. My personal fav. theatres (because I find they've usually got good productions going) are the Donmar Warehouse (an Off-West End theatre) and the Bush Theatre (Also Off-West End, and it's a pub theatre). And don't limit yourself to seeing just musicals! As for hostels to stay in I've only stayed in the Generator. I liked it for the most part. It is big but it's within walking distance of Covent Garden, Leicester Square, etc. It's got a great location.

Willeke / Go to the tourist info ofcefis, (or their internet sites,) and ask for bed and breakfast kind of places. Also, there are hotels that have a minimum of staff, (specially in France) and may be less friendly but cheaper.I think some are called Formule1, but there are more.If you want to cover big distances, train passes is the way to go, but if you want to travel a lot within a smaller area renting a car might work out cheaper. Also if you can then use cheaper hotels out of town.Buy a good guidebook, I think that the Lonely Planet series are good, because it will save you more than it costs. And as any Educated Woman will know, google is your best friend when searching internet.

a lot of hostels have kinetchs. it's nice to be able to cook sometimes, esp. if you're travelling for a long while. and you meet so many lovely people in hostels from all over the world, they can also tell you things about other destinations that you wouldn't find in a guide book. if money weren't an option, i'd still stay in hostels more than not. i'm not super social and into going out and all that but i just ended up meeting the most interesting, amazing people travelling. i've stayed with a couple i met in a hostel when i visited their country, i dated a boy i met in a hostel whom i'm still very close to.

your main costs will be:1. accommodation2. treavl and transport3. foodFor cheap accommodation try hostel websites there are LOTS of them and they sometimes give you ratings as well. For air treavl, skyscanner is excellent for treavlling within europe but you may find that a europass MAY be better for you as you are treavlling within a specific time frame. Look at the costs for flights to places you want to treavl to with the cost of the railpass and see if its an option otherwise there is bus which is cheaper.

Reece , being an Aussie like you I always buy a JR Pass whtheer it be for one week , two weeks or three before I leave home.On arrival in Japan you can buy a Kansai pass or a JR East pass from any ticket office, these passes are available in Japan and cover travel for limited days in a row, very cheap. If speed isn't your thing then some of the non shinkansen passes are very cheap but do take longer to get places.Local subways /metro lines in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Kyoto have multi day passes that are a steal, if you plan on being in one place for any amount of time.Compared to Australia ,trains are very cheap as are buses, numerous passes are available. But if you want to ride the bullet trains then get a JR Pass for your 2 weeks, you can ride local JR trains , JR buses and the bullet trains with the exception of the NOZOMI.I have found H.I.S travel in Australia to have the best prices and service for these passes, check out their site, not huge savings but still cheaper than the competitors. If you don't buy a pass and want to ride the bullet trains then a return ticket to Kyoto or Osaka from Tokyo,or Tokyo return to Hiroshima will be about the same price as a week pass, or to all these cities just once will be dearer than the the two week pass.Your choice, start in Tokyo for 3 days finish in Tokyo for 3 days and spend the rest travelling to as many places as you can, it is worth it.Hostels are great and very cheap, a whole lot of new Guesthouses have sprung up over the last year or two and are better and friendlier than some of the hostels (U-en in Osaka, Hana's House in Hiroshima, Aso Base Backpackers in ASO,Kyushu and Pongyi in Kanazawa.References : My travels every year to Japan.
